Pet-friendly rentals in Phuket (2026): where you can rent with a dog or cat

Moving to Phuket with a dog or a cat? The hardest part is not the flight — it is finding a landlord who says yes. We checked every home listed for long-term rent on Matt in October 2026: only 23 of 145 homes (16%) accept pets, and 11 of them take small pets only.

Where the pet-friendly homes are

AreaPet-friendly homesTypical rent
Chalong10฿39,000
Rawai5฿30,000
Wichit3฿40,000

Chalong and Rawai in the south have the most: houses with small gardens in gated villages, close to vets and pet shops. Phuket Town and Kathu have fewer, because most homes there are condos.

Houses, not condos

15 of the 23 pet-friendly homes are houses and 4 are townhouses. Only 1 of 46 condos accepts pets — most condo buildings ban them in the juristic rules, even when the owner would not mind. If you have a dog, start your search with houses.

What it costs

The typical pet-friendly home rents for ฿35,000 a month, against ฿30,000 for all homes — mainly because they are houses. The cheapest start around ฿18,000. Some owners ask for one extra month of deposit for a pet; that is normal and you get it back if the home is left clean.

How to ask — and get it in writing

  1. Say what pet it is up front: type, size, how many, indoor or outdoor. "Small dog, 8 kg, house-trained" gets more yeses than "a pet".
  2. Check the village rules too. A house owner may agree, but some villages limit dogs. Ask the agent to confirm both.
  3. Offer what owners worry about: a professional clean and pest treatment when you move out, and a photo record of the floors, doors and furniture on move-in day.
  4. Put it in the lease: one line naming the pet and any extra deposit. A verbal "OK" is not enough when you want your deposit back.
